Summertime is Hammock Season—and Now is the Best Time to Enjoy!

Crooked Hammock Brewery

Whether you’re enjoying a ride on the Breakwater Trail, have a line in the water, or kicking back in a hammock of your own, Crooked Hammock’s new summer lineup is perfect for the seasonal vibe.

With two new locations on the horizon, and a new head brewer at the helm, Crooked Hammock brewery in Lewes is shifting their focus to sessionable, lighter ales, while staying true to their roots as the backyard destination for families and beer-lovers alike.

The “backyard beer garden” always features a variety of outdoor games, photography areas, playgrounds, firepits and other areas that take the experience beyond a typical restaurant.

Expect to see a variety of new session IPAs including a new version of their summer staple Beach Escape. In addition, they’ll have a rotating variety of juicy, crushable, fruited sours, the return of their summer seasonal pilsner Actively Fishing, and plenty of other thirst-quenching varieties.

New head brewer Jon Schorah looks forward to leading the brewery and beer list into a direction truly representative of the Hammock lifestyle – clean, sessionable, and full of flavor. In addition, joining the brew team is Aaron Miller, former head brewer of Burley Oak, and Ryan White, as Director of Brewery Operations.

“The collaboration, enthusiasm, and quality of beer coming out of the Hammock right now is inspiring,” says CH Founder Rich Garrahan. “Right now, we are brewing the best beer we have ever have."

Also new to the team are Director of Culinary Operations Ted Deptula, former Executive Chef at the Lewes Yacht Club and Chef Nate Leonard, former head chef and owner of 208 Social in downtown Rehoboth. Together they will lead the culinary leg of Hammock operations, expanding on the classic, made from scratch, backyard cookout fare like burgers, dogs and brewpub favorites like a giant Bavarian pretzel, nachos, and wings.

Crooked Hammock’s additional locations coming to Middletown later this year and another in 2020 will embody the same spirit as their flagship Lewes location, but with even more space to fully soak in that backyard vibe.

The brand was one of just three Delaware breweries represented at Beer Advocates Extreme Beer Festival earlier this year, and it has also announced two new collaborative brews – Big Chill Sweet Lime Shandy with Cantina and Beach Club and Paradise Pale Ale for Paradise Grill.

You can find Crooked Hammock beers throughout the state of Delaware at beer and liquor stores to enjoy wherever the summer takes you.
