When a craving for sushi hits, it often cannot be ignored. And whether your palate is adventurous or conservative, the key with sushi is that it must be fresh—and luckily, Delaware's coastal towns hold an array of options to choose from.
Rehoboth Beach diners don't even need to divert from the highway to satisfy that sushi craving. Saketumi is a large restaurant on Route 1 that offers modern Asian fusion cuisine—so if you don’t enjoy sushi, there are plenty of other options on the menu including fish, filet, teriyaki, noodles and hibachi dishes.
When my partner and I stopped for sushi on a recent trip down to the beach, Saketumi did not disappoint. We arrived on a Saturday evening a little past 8 p.m. and we got a table right away, but there were still plenty of other diners in the massive dining room.

We started with the pan-fried pork dumplings, which were slightly salty and charred. We ordered two regular sushi rolls—the tuna and avocado roll and the yellowtail and scallion roll—and one special roll. The sunset roll was made with salmon and yellowtail, filled with spicy tuna, eel and cucumber, drizzled with eel sauce, slightly torched and topped with sliced avocado. We also ordered a side or jasmine rice, which was fluffy and fragrant.
The prices for sushi rolls range from $5-$8, and the specialty rolls range from $8-$18. There are also vegetable rolls, tapas, and a la carte options for sushi and sashimi. View the full sushi menu here, and check the restaurant's website or Facebook for their lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch menus.
