“This photo represents the end of the days when all vehicles were horse-drawn, as well as the transition from horse-drawn to automobiles,” says Constance Cooper, the chief curator at the Delaware Historical Society. “By 1920, Ottey was listed as having no occupation. Perhaps he retired, or the blacksmith business was fading away.”
