While scheduling shows for her second year at the famed DuPont Theatre—a place that has hosted some of the greatest shows and actors to ever play Broadway—general manager Annmarie O’Hara-Townsend found herself booking no less than its centennial season. No pressure—other than the self-imposed goal of topping last year’s lineup. “I always want to choose the highest level of Broadway entertainment available,” O’Hara-Townsend says—which is no less than patrons have expected for the past 100 years. The theater’s season begins with “Elvis Lives” on Oct. 2, a multimedia journey that celebrates the music of The King. Cole Porter’s classic “Anything Goes” follows Oct. 30-Nov. 4, then the fractured fairy tale “Shrek the Musical” Dec. 4-9. Look for “Flashdance” Jan. 29-Feb. 3, phenom “Dreamgirls” April 2-7 and the soulful “Memphis” April 30-May 5. The hits keep comin’ with other shows, a terrific children’s series and Smart Talk. If all goes as O’Hara-Townsend plans, “Hopefully, this will be remembered as one of the best seasons ever.” Don’t miss the theater’s big birthday party in Rodney Square on Oct. 1.
