A bright idea
Timeless Design by Kate FitzGerald-Wilks designed this small sunroom off the family room in a North Wilmington home to have a dual purpose. First, to provide a place for the homeowner to care for his plants—many of them 20 years old—and to provide a conversation grouping for enjoying friends and family. The four vibrant teal chairs and acacia drum table are perfect for a small group. It’s a fabulous spot to share coffee in the morning or evening cocktails.
For this renovation, Lindsay Construction was selected to address the relationship of the garage to the rest of the home. What was once a stand-alone structure was joined to the main house, so the family has a new everyday entrance as well as interior spaces that accommodate the miscellaneous gear for seasonal weather. Exterior upgrades include new stonework, along with updated windows and siding.
This little cocktail lounge at the end of the great room was designed for a midcentury home in Centreville. With a wall of glass looking out into the trees and shaded landscape, the users feel like they are enjoying cocktails in a tree house. The glass-topped tree trunk table and black rattan lounge chairs add to the midcentury feel. The Chinoiserie triptych hanging over the midcentury birdseye maple bar contribute to the gathered-over-time look.
