Top Lawyers 2016

Are you looking for the best attorney you can find? Here are the lawyers other lawyers think are best.

Get to know some of this year's top lawyers here.

What you need to know about the Delaware Today Top Lawyers survey and results:

How do lawyers get on the list?
The lawyers listed are chosen by a survey of their professional peers. In June Delaware Today emailed an invitation to all 4,900 members of the Delaware Bar Association to vote in a poll on the Delaware Today website. Only licensed attorneys were permitted to respond. About 450 responses were received and counted. The top vote-getters are listed here.

How many votes must a lawyer receive to make the list?
The threshold is set according to the total number of votes made in each area of practice. More lawyers appear in specialties where voting is very active, fewer in specialties where voting is low. Because most lawyers are based in northern New Castle County, the threshold is lowered proportionally to include a representative number of lawyers downstate.

Many lawyers, law firms and related service providers advertise in the Top Lawyers issue. Does that help them get on the list?
No. The survey is conducted, and winners verified, entirely by the editors of Delaware Today. Winners are notified only after the results are verified and the list finalized. The lawyers listed, their firms and-or their affiliates may choose to purchase advertising in this issue of Delaware Today, subsequent issues and-or other Delaware Today-Today Media Inc. titles, and they may choose to promote their achievement in those ads, many of which appear in the clearly designated “Special Advertising Section” that begins on page 97, but it has no bearing on the results. Many of the lawyers and firms listed here do not advertise.

How do I read the results?
The top vote-getter in each category is listed in bold. Each listing includes the attorney’s firm, address and phone number, the name of his or her law school, the number of years he or she has been in practice, and, where supplied by the lawyer, other areas of practice beyond the one he or she is recognized for in the poll.
