On her MySpace page, country superstar Emmylou Harris credits acclaimed songwriters Bill and Taffy Danoff for “rescuing me from working as a hostess for model homes.” The model home community’s loss is the music world’s gain. Harris, who will appear at The Grand November 16, has been singing professionally for more than 40 years now. Her 12 Grammys validate a successful career. “Emmylou is one of those artists that we try to book every year—and this year it finally worked out,” says executive director Steve Bailey. “We’re particularly excited that she’ll be bringing the Red Dirt Boys as her backing band, and I suspect we’ll see a show with music from all periods of a very prolific recording career.” For more, visit www.thegrandwilmington.org, or call 652-5577. —Maria Hess
