Millsboro, west of the beaches on Del. 24 at U.S. 113, is the kind of Southern Delaware town that attracts young families and active retirees, largely due to its sense of community and natural surroundings. Indian River cuts through the town center. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy bass fishing, boating and canoeing in Millsboro’s three freshwater ponds. Millsboro Pond is the place to watch bald eagles roost. Students are served by the Indian River School District, which operates seven elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Big Thursday is one of its largest celebrations. The Nanticoke Indian Museum is one if its main cultural attractions.
