Dewey Beach—all of one mile long and two blocks wide between the ocean and the head of Rehoboth Bay—is known for its summer nightlife. Bars and restaurants jam with live music, attracting partiers from Delaware, Baltimore and the Washington, D.C. area. And sailors and kiteboarders come from all over the East Coast and Canada to play on the bay. Dewey Beach is quieter in the fall and winter, and the town is a year-round home to a small number of families. Adjoining, but not part of Dewey proper, are private oceanfront communities such as Indian Beach.
