Newark

Newark is a town full of civic spirit, and it is home to the main campus of the University of Delaware, so the vibe of college life is evident. First-timers and college grads can find townhouses here, and many UD professors live in its established neighborhoods. Newark offers a bustling Main Street full of terrific shopping and restaurants, suburban neighborhoods with mature landscaping, and several business parks. Newark is also a nice choice for active adults, a group often referred to as empty nesters. There are ample, upscale retirement communities, and seniors are attracted to the town’s youthful energy. UD’s theater and musical performances appeal to them. Christiana Hospital is four miles away. Beautiful White Clay Creek State Park provides outdoor recreation at the city’s border. The greater Newark area extends along Del. 896 to Glasgow to the south, west and north to the state line, and east along Kirkwood Highway almost to Del. 7. The area includes new and established subdivisions of every description, townhouse and condominium communities, and rural areas near beautiful state parks and recreational areas that include tennis, soccer, and basketball facilities for public use.
