Milton is split by the Broadkill River and in some ways still resembles the cozy shipbuilding village it began as when the English settled in 1672. Its downtown was restored with integrity, so there are tasteful antique shops and galleries, and home to the iconic King’s Homemade Ice Cream. The rehabbed Milton Theater offers plays, musicals and films, and the venue supports emerging new artists as well as name acts. Residents flock to canoe and kayak races every year, and students attend highly rated Cape Henlopen district schools. The town features homes in the Federal, Greek Revival, Victorian and Craftsman styles on both sides of Wagamon’s Pond, but overall, the area is picturesque, reasonably priced, and a short drive to Delaware beaches.
