Rural Bridgeville may be one of the oldest communities in western Sussex County, but new development is sprouting in areas around town—witness magnificent Heritage Shores—and retirement communities in the southern part of town. Bridgeville is home to such iconic events as the Apple Scrapple Festival. About, about 30 miles south of Dover, it is part of the Woodbridge School District. Legendary Jimmy’s Diner is a popular stop for beach-bound motorists from the Washington, D.C.-Annapolis-Baltimore area.
