Bethany Beach is a family resort, with a lovely beach, a short boardwalk, a lively bandstand and diverse restaurants. The 2,825-acre Delaware Seashore State Park bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to its east, and west by Rehoboth Bay and Indian River. There isn’t much room for development in Bethany, since either the ocean or the bay surrounds the town. There are still many quaint cottages to be found in Bethany. North Bethany, an unincorporated area above town, is full of beautiful landscaped properties and large hoes on the ocean and lower Rehoboth Bay. It neighbors inland Ocean View on Del. 26, a more year-round community where older summer homes and farm houses are slowly giving way to new homes and strip centers. The area is served by Indian River School District.
