A Classic Makes a Milestone

Despite turning 75, Old Dover Days never really gets old.

Old Dover Days turns 75 this year. Expect the Kent County Tourism Office and the City of Dover to supersize the celebration May 2-4 on The Green and at Legislative Mall. Rain or shine, participants will sip tea with the governor, tour Woodburn, ride steam cars from Auburn Heights and hear colonial music. Add to that Maypole dancers, food courts, vendors, reenactors, and, of course, a parade. Music comes in all genres: Local jazzer Joe Baione kicks off Arty Gras Friday night, and the Dover Symphony ends the weekend Sunday at the Schwartz Center. At least 15,000 partiers will pay homage to the First State Capital City. Most will even find a parking space. Admission is free. Contact Kent County Tourism at (800) 233-5368 or kctc@visitdover.com.
