A Hidden Paradise in Long Neck

Paradise Grill is a tropical oasis of food and entertainment for all ages.

Some compare Paradise Grill in Long Neck to Seacrets in Ocean City, Md., but with one disclaimer: Delaware’s tropics-themed outdoor food-and-entertainment complex is family-friendly. Yes, you’ll find live music, crush drinks and bikinis, but you’ll also find a pirate ship, ice cream, funnel-cake shacks, and a kids’ menu with items such as chicken fingers and fruit cups. The regular menu is casual, with typical American fare and seafood. You can chow down on a juicy burger or a full entrée like flounder over rice with a seafood marinara sauce prepared by chefs David Siter and Giovanni Brickhouse. Overlooking the Indian River Bay, the restaurant (27344 Bay Road, Long Neck, 945-4500) draws boat and land traffic. It is lush with palm trees, thatched-roof areas and lots of sand. It can seat more than 800 diners. Owner Al Tortella has roots in the neighborhood, where his family has had a home since 1967. “The best memories of my life were in Pot-Nets,” he says. “It’s why I want to cater to families.”
