The Delaware Art Museum opens “Fifty Works for the First State: The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection” June 19. The Vogels, who collected 4,000 works, mandated that 50 works go to an institution in each state. The Delaware Art Museum scored drawings, paintings, sculptures and collages by 23 artists. The exhibit showcases post-minimal, figurative and expressionist work, and “holds the works of art in public trust for the appreciation of all,” says assistant curator Margaret Winslow. “In Delaware this gift strengthens the museum’s ability to tell the story of contemporary American art.” For more, call 571-9590, or visit delart.org. —Maria Hess
