A Most Fashionable Affair
Fashion Night Out was billed as a “pop-up-style bar” at BBC Tavern, where thirsty fashion fans could preview spring 2010 collections from local boutiques while enjoying cocktails and informal modeling, with a percentage of the proceeds going to Team Fox for Parkinson’s research.
We spotted Glam Gal blogger JoJami Tyler in the parking lot, then stalked her paparazzi-style and snapped her in front of a taxi-yellow Smart car wearing, and it burns our mouth a little to say it, acid-washed skinny jeans, a matte gold tank and a butter-yellow leather bolero with contrast whip stitching, all accessorized with a big brown letter carrier bag and double-stranded necklace of metal beads, all anchored by her gladiator-style strappies in dark gray. JoJo emits so much wardrobe wow wattage, she’s in danger of blinding us. JJ had just returned from Nashville, where her sister Janneen produced and brother-in-law Michael Damian directed “Flicka 2,” starring Patrick Warburn, Tammin Sursok and Clint Black. Next for Tyler? Observing the glammest gals on the globe, during a research trip to Paris.
Chic chick and event organizer Carroll Ivy Laurence modeled FNO participants Leigh Anne Barnes’ current-yet-classic, cleverly convertible, faux croc clutch (in orange!) and Leigh Anne’s latest: a dip-dyed, fuschia-to-lavender silk scarf, halter top, and a chrome chunky chain in the same hard-to-miss hardware as her haute handbags.
Dapper David Dietz, proprietor of BBC, was telling us about a recent Paul Sorvino sighting, and the rare whiskey-tasting dinners hosted with Gerret Copeland and son-in-law Andrew Rose. Was it the colorful outfits from Ellie Boutique and Wilmington Country Store, as modeled by the pretty Pettinaros: Tracy Crowley, Cindy Pettinaro and Vicky Pettinaro, that caught the boys’ eyes?
“Cleopatra Goes to Point to Point” was what we dubbed our favorite ensemble from the fast and frequent changing Pettinaros. With her sleek, freshly darkened mid-length bob by master of minimalism Robert Cris Salon and flawless face by the mistress of maquillage, Cristi Miller of Houppette, featuring Laura Mercier’s Zen line, Tracy truly looked like the queen of the Nile. Representing the men was Brett Jones, in 7 For All Mankind jeans, a micro-check gingham shirt in light blue, a Vineyard Vines tie and belt, and Doc Martins. Dudes like duds, too, right guys?
