A nonsectarian private college preparatory school with a strong sports program for students in pre-K through grade 12 (caravel.org)
Located on a 75-acre campus in Bear with an athletic complex supporting 18 sports, Caravel balances academic, arts, service, and extracurricular requirements to educate students that exemplify leadership, integrity, creativity, and teamwork. Founded by philanthropist Robert Peoples– today, school leadership includes his wife and five family members. Thanks to a thriving lower school, there are often fewer than a dozen freshmen openings in the upper school. The atmosphere is one of belonging, being challenged, and stepping up to a high code of conduct, says headmaster Don Keister. The culture of discipline includes sportsmanship, and has earned the school the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Sportsmanship award four years in a row. Adopting a high code of conduct is part of character development and prepares students for college, career and life, Keister says.
Did you know: Caravel has won 16 state sports championships in 22 years.
