Computer programmer Ahn Te and his friends were tired of driving to Philly for their pho fix, so he and wife Thu Te opened Pho Nhu Vu in Bear three years ago. The place is so popular, they recently opened a similar place, Nhu Vu in Middletown. “It’s going great,” Ahn Te says. “We’re still here.” And that’s good news. Pho is a Vietnamese dish of noodles, various meats, vegetables and seasonings in broth. Though a soup, it eats like a meal. Ingredients vary by region, though both noodle houses offer all the favorites, as well as traditional dishes such as fried rices and clay pot meals. How popular are the restaurants? “If I were in my 30s, I’d open more. Right now I’m looking forward to the day I turn 62 so I can pack up and go,” Ahn Te laughs. (378-9338)   —M.N.
