Delaware Private Schools: The New School

At The New School, students—not administrators—shape the curriculum and manage the school. The chair of the school meetings is always a student. Much like college, the curriculum is student-initiated and question-based, rather than textbook or lecture driven. “We take the students’ lives, ideas and work seriously, which is why we actively engage them in the design and development of their studies,” says founder Melanie Jago Hiner.
