Delaware Cosmetic Surgery: Breast Augmentation
Implants make breasts larger and-or fuller, depending on the patient’s desires. It’s accomplished by sliding saline or silicone implants under the “soft tissue” via a small incision near the breasts. Three incisions are most common: around the nipples, under the breasts and near the armpit. Many doctors place the implants under the pectoral muscles to create a more natural look and softer feel and to decrease complications. After 15 years of studies by the FDA, silicone implants are back in use.
Risks Scarring, changes in sensation, leakage or rupture of implants, wrinkling or rippling over the implant, the need for future surgery or implant replacement.
Recovery You’ll need special support for up to six weeks. Pain can be managed with Ibuprofen, but narcotics are often necessary.
Cost $5,000 for saline implants, $6,000 for silicone
