Jan Crumpley
Delaware Friends of Folk, Dover

On a typical evening, Crumpley has a tough time choosing where she’s headed to enjoy music in Kent County. She’s not from Delaware, but she moved here 22 years ago for the music. As a musician, Crumpley has many favorites—the Schwartz Center, Jonathan’s Landing for blues and the Dover Symphony Orchestra—but what she loves most is the diversity of options. “If you ever think there’s nothing to do on a Friday or Saturday night for entertainment, you come see me because there is so much to do.”

Dionndra Rooks
Clear Space Theatre Board of Directors, Rehoboth Beach

As a young resident of Sussex County, Rooks wanted to get more involved in her community so she decided to sit on the Board of Directors for Clear Space Theatre. “I haven’t seen a production there I haven’t liked,” she says. Clear Space is one of her favorites for entertainment in Southern Delaware, but she also loves live music in Dewey at HammerHeads and the Bottle & Cork. Living in a small town doesn’t mean the entertainment options are small. She adds, “There are always things to do if you look and do your research.”

Michelle Kramer-Fitzgerald
Arts in Media, Wilmington

Kramer-Fitzgerald loves going off the beaten path for entertainment in Wilmington. She praises New Castle County for its large offering of free and unique programs. From Market Street Music to Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts to City Theater Company, northern Delaware has a little bit for everyone. “I encourage people, especially families, to get out and explore Wilmington arts—something different, perhaps out of their comfort zone,” she says.
