Catherine Rooney's sort of typifies the Trolley Square crowd. These college grads are still out for a wild, beer-soaked time, but have graduated from Busch to Smithwick's, Harp and Stella Artois. The free buffet on Fridays during happy hour is a huge draw. Pubby and comfortable, it may be as close to Ireland as yo can get in Wilmington.

Catherines offers traditional Irish fare with flair, a customary mural honoring the local police and fire departments, soccer on the tellie, and Irish bands such as Hit the Bottle Boys and Bareknuckle Brawlers on Saturday nights. The Wexford boil, an Irish version of the London classic, features fl ank steak marinated in Guinness, then grilled and topped with roasted garlic and mushroom gravy. The Kilkenny medallions of grilled tender pork loin are to die for. Casual. Lunch and dinner.
