Nanticoke Health Services includes Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, a nonprofit hospital with 120 beds, LifeCare at Lofland Park, a short-term rehabilitation or long-term care facility with 110 beds and a dedicated dementia unit, the Mears Health Campus, and the Nanticoke Physician Network.
Services available at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital include critical and emergency care, maternity and women’s health, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, a certified stroke center, a vascular center and a full array of outpatient and therapy services. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency care to the residents of western Sussex County and is a certified Level III Trauma Center. In fiscal 2009 the hospital treated nearly 5,500 inpatients, provided outpatient services and testing for more than 60,000 patients, performed over 2,500 outpatient surgeries and saw nearly 33,000 patients in the emergency room.
In 2009 Nanticoke Memorial Hospital completed a successful Joint Commission Accreditation survey, the gold standard in healthcare. Nanticoke’s Cancer Care Center partnered with Peninsula Regional’s Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute to allow patients access to a more comprehensive array of cancer services and provide patient access to clinical trials. Nanticoke received re-accreditation with accommodation for its Cancer Care Center, added many new services and upgraded technology.
Many community education classes, outreach programs and support groups are available through Nanticoke Health Services, including many free or low cost screenings and an affordable option for the seasonal flu vaccination each fall.
