The Second Annual MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival is set to kick off its enormous, statewide slate of events this month, ranging from tapas and food trucks to $500-a-head dinners to something called Scrapplegasm at the Green Room. In total, 46 events, 20 winemakers, 90 chefs, and dozens of educational courses and workshops comprise the festival—spread across 43 different locations. The event benefits local nonprofits OperaDelaware, CAMP Rehoboth, the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, the Smyrna Opera House, and the Christina Cultural Arts Center.

Chefs and winemakers from around the world (the roster spans six continents) team up with local culinary all-stars in most events. The creative themes, concepts, venues, and personality matchups range wildly, from the popular Bacon + Bourbon Dinner at The House of William & Merry, to a five-course dinner at historic Oberod Estate, where Buckley’s Tavern chef Tom Hannum will match wits with chefs from Tuscon, Ariz., and the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa, just to name a few.

Last year’s inaugural festival attracted 4,328 ticketholders from 16 states and nine countries, and netted more than $83,000 for Delaware arts groups.
