Description:

Founded 120 years ago by the Ursuline Sisters in the spirit of St. Angela, we educate boys age 3 through grade 5 and girls age 3 through grade 12. We offer two paths to first grade with a Montessori program and a traditional Pre-K/Kindergarten program. Ursuline Academy is part of the Ursuline Global Network with 24 schools located in the United States and 105 schools located on six contents. Our school motto of Serviam (Latin for “I will serve”) has inspired our students to share their time and talents to improve the lives of others. Ursuline provides the opportunity for students to participate in 13 sports teams starting in 3rd grade, performing and fine arts, and an extensive list of clubs and activities.

Early Childhood/ Lower School
In the Early Childhood and Lower School, each student participates in weekly special classes such as computers, art, music, and gym. Our students are exposed to and attend Chinese, French, and Spanish classes throughout their academic schedule starting at age three. The Early Childhood program has access to explore the Outdoor Classroom and learn in the Discovery Studio. All students have access to iPads and SMART Boards in all of their classrooms. Each grade level has their own unique musical performances throughout the year. Within the Early Childhood and Lower School, there is a Resource Teacher and a Counselor that is able to work with each student and their parents, as well as teachers to ensure every student is individually challenged.

Middle School
Ursuline Academy offers an all-girl educational environment starting in 6th grade. Each student utilizes their own laptop in their classes ranging from Algebra 1 to Writer’s Workshop to Health. On a rotating basis each student participates in art, music, health, and gym classes. Middle School students have the ability to chose between the following languages, Chinese, French, or Spanish. During the spring semester, the 8th grade organizes, produces, and performs a musical.

Upper School
Within the Upper School, each young woman is able to explore the world around them with the help of their award winning teachers and personal laptops. Each student has the choice between two tracks College Preparatory and Honors/ Advanced Placement. Eighteen AP classes are offered each year to students and four language classes, Chinese, French, Latin, or Spanish. Starting Freshman year, each student is assigned a College Counselor who will work with them for the next four years. Together they will identify the best college for the student as she achieves different milestones throughout the process. The Class of 2013 (58 students) raised over $5.8 million in college scholarships and grants (excludes financial aid). Ursuline Academy routinely has a 100% acceptance to college.
