Kids Cottage is an interactive destination for children designed for either drop-in or parent-supervised visits. It offers exceptional learning environments, including an innovative preschool, engaging enrichment programs, monthly classes and lots of memorable experiences for children.
What began as an idea for a babysitting service/preschool developed into Kids Cottage after two years of research and dedication by founders and co-owners Lori Schell and Taryn Burris. Having opened in 2005, the Kids Cottage is enjoying its fourth year of preschool. It caters to each family’s individual needs.

Lori Schell earned her bachelor of science in education and her special education degree from the University of Delaware. Taryn Burris also earned her bachelor of science in education from the University of Delaware, and her master’s in special education from the University of Maryland.

At Kids Cottage they set new standards for child care and have created a niche that is in the process of being franchised.
We strive to continue to be the most educationally engineered preschool around,” Schell says. “Our future plans are to franchise across the East Coast. We are currently working on our Dover location, opening in January.”
