Hilltop Crab House Restaurant is everything one would expect from a traditional crabhouse, except that it’s a bit inland—about a mile over the state line. The main dining room’s long tables are covered in brown paper. There are little wooden mallets. And the crabs are sprinkled with seasoning from Harbor Spice Company in Baltimore. Hilltop is billed as the home of the year-round, all you-can-eat crab special: all the steamed blue crabs you can handle, plus fries and slaw. Owners Richard Mason and Curtis Mason Sr. say their homemade, tomato-based dipping sauce is similar to DiNardo’s famous concoction. What more could you want?
