Milton Café Pays Homage to Wine

Bacchus Wine Bar will focus on vino, cheeses and more. Sounds delicious.

Wine enthusiasts Debbie and Rich Sulkovsky hope to spread some of their enthusiasm across Milton this spring when they open Bacchus Wine Bar in the heart of the cozy, buzzy hamlet. Bacchus—named for the Roman god of wine—will offer an array of wines and cheeses, plus coffee, espresso and artisanal crêpes and pizzas. Located next door to the Milton Theatre, Bacchus will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, while catering to the theater crowd. The Sulkovskys retired from their jobs in 2010 and began scouring the Delmarva Peninsula for a place to open their dream business. After more than three years’ searching, “We saw this place on a real-estate listing and thought it was exactly what we’re looking for,” says Rich Sulkovsky. “It’s a property with character—it will be 100 years old [this] year.” Renovations revealed the building’s original brick walls, which the owners will utilize to enhance the cozy atmosphere. The former municipal building at 106 Union St. once housed the town’s only prison cell and also served as a bank. It’s even been the subject of paranormal investigation. “It’s going to be stunning,” Debbie Sulkovsky predicts.
