“Highland Orchards grows most of the vegetables it sells,” says critic Harold Gray. Owners use no synthetic chemicals or genetically modified seeds, nor do they employ hormones to speed growth. Find rhubarb, asparagus and strawberries in May, cherries, red raspberries and blueberries in late June, followed by juicy peaches and tomatoes. July brings cucumbers and peppers.
