Best Fine Dining, 2014:
The Back Porch Café redefined dining in Rehoboth and, we dare say, the state with a serious approach to a relaxed experience. You can wear flip-flops while enjoying food that has been cooked The Back Porch way since the beginning, spawning several waves of excellent restaurants in Rehoboth and beyond. Happy 40th, Back Porch. Many more.
Best Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, 2014:
Forty years ago, The Back Porch Café set the standard for every restaurant that would follow in Rehoboth Beach. Everything on its menu is made from scratch. You’ll find foods you expect, like local rockfish, to foods you don’t, like sweetbreads. It’s re-opening each spring is, in our opinion, the true official start of summer.
The place that put Rehoboth dining on the map, The Back Porch Café continues to lead the charge on progressive bistro dining. International ideas and seasonal produce find their way onto a menu that might include thyme-braised veal cheeks one night and venison schnitzel the next. The porch, of course, is one of the best seats in town.
There’s nothing like a hot cup of coffee, right? How about a flaming coffee? And by flaming, we mean coffee that is literally set on fire tableside. Critics Paul and Bonnie Cullen will fight for a table at Back Porch Café just to sip its Café Flambé, a coffee tweaked with Kalúa, Galliano, Lewes Dairy whipping cream, sugar, lemon, cinnamon, and, of course, fire.
