alternative dress shopping ideas
Picking your wedding dress often is only second to picking your hubby. With a choice that important, its best to consider all options. Dont resign yourself to the boutiques listed in the phone book. There are a slew of other shops across the state.
The first place to head is your computer. Delaware-based ChristinaGowns.com has a huge selection of dresses without the huge price tags. Christine Dean of the site says that Internet shopping can be dramatically cheaper than purchasing through a store. We dont have the overhead of a traditional shop, she says, as she points out Internet shopping isnt for everyone. Brides like to try on the dress. They like the whole experience. We dont have that, so a lot of our brides tend to be shopping for second weddings.
If the in-store experience sounds more appealing, there are a number of consignment shops that sell bridal dresses, but the one with the best selection is the Resale Boutique in North Wilmington. The shop has a selection of about 300 dresses. We get dresses constantly, says Carole Ashman, manager. We buy dresses from bridal salons that have a surplus or are going out of business.
Brides have the opportunity to saveif they can find a gown that matches their personality and size. One Christian Dior gown priced around $2,000 cost nearly three times that originally. You can save thousands, Ashman says.
