It’s all about networking, says Anne Stallman Dougherty, managing director of J.P. Morgan Trust Co. of Delaware. Dougherty was working for Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York, a predecessor of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, while attending New York Law School. After more education and four years of legal practice, she decided to leave New York. She called a friend at J.P. Morgan in Delaware. As luck would have it, there was a place for her there. She now helps others establish and manage their trusts, helps other trust managers bring new business to Delaware and trains trust company employees. “Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external colleagues,” Dougherty says. “You never know when someone can be helpful to you.”
