Clearing the mind and learning to think not thinking is Zen awareness. Taking the appropriate action in this moment is Zen. Once you know this in your body, walking, standing, sitting down, everything you do is Zen.

While we do not have a regular Dharma talk, we occasionally share stories or readings from Buddhist teaching and discuss book recommendations. We maintain a small library of relevant materials. Your searching questions will always stimulate fruitful discussion.We follow a simple traditional Zen meditation practice and ritual intended to support the deepening of your meditation experience and the development of a mindful approach to life. Our ritual involves a small altar, candle, and incense. Sitting on cushions, benches, or chairs is optional. Traditional chanting and two 25 minute periods of meditation separated by 8 minutes of walking meditation are punctuated by various percussive instruments and gongs.
It is our practice to start exactly on time, and we encourage arrival well before the sitting begins at 7 p.m. After that time, the church doors may be locked.
