Have you ever pondered the genius behind the invention of the s’more, or wondered how anyone could survive a camping trip without bug spray and quick-dry fabrics? Happy Campers! has answers for you. Come view some of the historical hits and misses of camping gear as found in the library’s early 20th century catalogs. Scouting manuals, ‘roughing it’ recipe books and other colorful bits of ephemera come together to tell the story of how camping became a popular American pastime.
