Our 9th Annual Meeting will update attendees on the continuing development in Downtown Wilmington, as well as focus on WRC’s core strategic project Wilmington's Creative District (CD), a vibrant city center, focused on innovative production and consumption, where creative entrepreneurs - artists, musicians, designers and tech innovators - and neighborhood residents thrive and where locally designed goods and original works are made and consumed. Last year the event sold out with more than 250 attendees. This is an outstanding networking and marketing opportunity, as well as chance to support the individuals and organizations that are making Wilmington a better place to live, work, play and learn.
Ethan Kent, Senior Vice President for Project for Public Spaces (PPS), works to support Placemaking organizations, projects, and leadership around the world. During over 17 years at Project for Public Spaces, Ethan has traveled to more than 750 cities and 55 countries to advance the cause of Placemaking and public spaces. Ethan has been integral to the development of Placemaking as a transformative approach to economic development, environmentalism, transportation planning, governance, and design. Utilizing lessons learned through his project work, Ethan regularly creates and conducts Placemaking training courses for professionals of various disciplines. In order to begin to institutionalize Placemaking in cities, Ethan has initiated and led local partnerships and campaigns with public, private and non-profit leaders to build capacity on all levels, shift organizational culture, implement demonstration projects and develop local campaigns for Placemaking.
