WXPN welcomes New Year's Eve with Rusted Root

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with Rusted Root

Integrating the Grateful Dead's jam-heavy rock with percussion influences based on the music of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, the multi-instrumentalist band formed in Pittsburgh in 1990 by Michael Glabicki. The band’s blend of polyrhythmic, multicultural rock and soul picks up devotees like a junkyard magnet as they sweep across the nation.

With support from college radio and the buzz surrounding their entrancing live show, Rusted Root has gained success in many circles, especially with singles like "Send Me on My Way" and "Ecstasy." Breaking a seven-year wait for a new studio album, the band released “Stereo Rodeo” in 2009.

"Rusted Root has always been a beautiful collaborative effort all around. It's a pleasure just to create music together,” says Glabicki. Be lifted into the New Year with the band’s hooky, percussion-heavy sound brimming with optimistic energy, utopian lyrics and good vibes!
