As they have increased in numbers, women in academia have faced a number of issues over the years—including more limited career opportunities, salary inequality, harassment, and difficulty finding the ideal balance between work and life.
This symposium focuses on some of the challenges that women have encountered in the field of archaeology, exploring the issue from firsthand accounts of women archaeologists over the past several decades. After the symposium, stay for a keynote lecture by Dr. Jennifer Wegner, Associate Curator, Penn Museum Egyptian Section Co-sponsored by the Departments of Anthropology, Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, and East Asian Languages and Civilizations.
