The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Family Carnival celebrates its silver anniversary beginning on Monday, July 15, on Rte. 7 in Bear, DE. Tuesday and Wednesday are Family Nights, when patrons can ride all night for $20. The carnival will conclude on Saturday with a traditional worker’s mass (3 p.m.) and Italian dinner (4:30 p.m.).
Nightly Entertainment and Events
The Carnival Kickoff will feature a live WDEL broadcast with Allan Loudell opening night, as well as live performances by the Korean Martial Arts Institute and the music of Dub Glenn. The big tent will feature the Delaware Arts Conservatory at 6 p.m., followed by Three Sheets on Tuesday, July 16. On Wednesday, the carnival’s “Beautiful Baby Contest” will take place in the hall beginning at 6:30 and The Juveniles will perform in the big tent. Thursday will feature the ATA Blackbelt Academy, followed by the music of LA Productions; after dusk, families will enjoy a fireworks show. Friday’s Weekend Kickoff features two live shows, the first a performance by Emerald Isle Academy Irish Dancers, and the second a musical performance by Day Tripper. After Saturday’s mass and family dinner, the American Martial Arts Institute entertains at 6 p.m., and Best Kept Secret will close out the 2013 carnival with a final musical performance.
The 2013 carnival menu includes pulled pork and roast beef sandwiches, carnival classics, fresh-cut beach fries, seafood, and much more. All guests can enjoy food and beverages at the Dugout Sports Grille while enjoying a baseball game on television.
Disney Family Vacation
The church will also raffle off a family vacation to Disney. Raffle tickets cost $20, or three for $50. Tickets can be purchased at the Church office weekdays or during the week of the Carnival. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold.
Nightly admission for ages 13 to 64 is $5; admission is free for children under 12 and adults over 65. Advance tickets are available after all masses and in the parish office, Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weekly passes are available for $10 in advance up to July 14 and $15 during the week of the carnival. Mega-Passes (for unlimited rides) are also available for $35 in advance and $40 the week of July 15.
The carnival offers free parking on the grounds. Additional parking is available at the DART Park & Ride (Rtes. 7 and 273) with shuttles running nightly between 6 and 10:30 p.m.
