During the years before Shelly Reuben's first mystery was published, she lived a life as exciting and dramatic as those of the characters in "The Best of Everything." In this 1950 movie, three ambitiious Manhattan woman fall in and out of love, form loyal friendships, contend with office politics, and dread that their dreams will be cut short by marriage, children, and regret.
Inspired by Mac Conner's illustrations in The Original Mad Man exhibition at the Delaware Art Museum, Reuben will draw happy comparisons between Conner's imagery and life as it is portrayed in the movie.
