Penn Teach-In Kickoff: How Do We Know?

Date/Time

Mar 18, 2018
01:00 PM until 04:00 PM

Description

How do we know what we know? Penn Museum asks that deceptively simple question—and invites guests of all ages to explore answers via hands-on science and archeology activities, short gallery talks by curators, games, and more. Visitors can try out stone tools, textiles, and ceramics in an experimental archeology station to understand more about their use and craftsmanship, practice archeological science skills with microscopes and test samples, and study replica artifacts up close and personal with hands-on activities. Museum experts share about their research, archeological digs, and studies, inviting guests to see how that research gets translated into Museum exhibitions. Guests can challenge newfound knowledge in a mobile, museum-wide scavenger hunt of discovery – with prizes!

This free program (the Museum is free all day!) is the kickoff event to the free five-day multi-disciplinary University of Pennsylvania Teach-In on the Production, Dissemination, and Use of Knowledge.
