Mélomanie, the ensemble known for its musical provocative pairings, celebrates mothers throughout the Greater Wilmington area with a Mother’s Day Brunch and Concert on Sunday, May 14, at their Wilmington performance home, The Delaware Contemporary. The light brunch, provided by Sherm’s Catering, will commence at 12:30pm with the concert following at 2:00pm.
This performance will feature a World Premiere – Desert Dusk for flute and cello by Philadelphia composer Daniel Dorff – as well as a reprise performance of the fan favorite, Ultraviolet, by Mark Hagerty with guest artists Chris Hanning, percussion and Naomi Gray, cello. This concert concludes Mélomanie's 2016-17 Wilmington Concert Series.
Co-Artistic Director Tracy Richardson says the ensemble is delighted to offer this holiday performance to fans and families. “With the new work Desert Dusk, the striking array of percussion instruments in Ultraviolet, and the baroque pieces we’ve chosen, we hope audiences will consider this a distinctive ‘treat’ for mothers on their special day.”
