Do you like chocolate? If you are like most people, the answer to that question is a resounding, “Yes!” On Saturday, October 20th from 3-6 PM, Everyday Grandparents will be holding its first annual fundraiser event at Skipjack Dining in Newark, DE. The Chocolate Tea Fundraiser was organized as a result of discovering that the daughter of a local restaurant owner had been diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome (aka Children's Alzheimer’s). There is currently no cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome and children with this diagnosis are only given a life expectancy of 10-20 years. This fundraiser is a small attempt to generate funds to donate directly to the research of Sanfilippo Syndrome treatments and also educate the community on this deadly disease.
The Chocolate Tea event is unique because it combines the deliciousness of a traditional tea party with the scrumptiousness of chocolate. At this event, you will be able to partake of some of Skipjack Dining’s finest sandwiches and desserts while also delighting in the rich and creamy chocolate fountain treats. In addition to the fantastic food, you will have an opportunity to bid on basket raffle items that have been donated by businesses (Greene Turtle, Newark Natural Foods, Honeygrow, etc.) in the Newark community and also be entered in a chance to win a door prize. To add a touch of elegance to the event, you will also be entranced by the piano stylings of one of our local pianists, Duane Dillard.
The cost to attend the Chocolate Tea is only $25.00. Net proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to support Sanfilippo Syndrome research. Registrations and or donations can be made at everydaygrandparents.com/chocolatea. Registration is required.
