What: St. Anthony’s Italian Festival When: June 10–17, 2012
Where: St. Anthony of Padua, 901 N. DuPont Street, Wilmington, DE 19805 The 2012 St. Anthony’s Italian Festival, the region’s premier Italian-American cultural celebration, kicks off on Sunday, June 10. This year’s theme is the Italian island of Sicily. Sicilian cuisine will be added to the Festival’s already outstanding Italian menu. Additionally, DiSabatino Landscaping and Esposito Masonry will create an enchanting garden and sculpture display, capturing the charms of Sicily. Tickets The church has begun advance sales on Festival 8-day passes for $12. The passes can also be purchased on site for $15. Additionally, daily admission is $5 for ages 14–61. Admission is free for children younger than 14 (when accompanied by a parent or guardian age 18 or older) and for those over 61. Home Winemakers Competition Il Circolo Culturale, St. Anthony’s Cultural Committee, will host the Home Winemakers Competition on Sunday, June 10, next to Il Mercato. For additional information, visit the Italian Festival website. Italy Trip Raffle St. Anthony’s is raffling an 8-day/6-night trip to Sicily valued at $5,700. The trip includes roundtrip airfare, first class hotels, and extensive touring with an English-speaking guide. Raffle ticket prices are $50. The drawing will take place on June 17. Gala Concert The 10th annual Gala Concert will be held on the Festival’s opening day, Sunday, June 10, at 3:00 PM in the church. The concert will feature oboist Elizabeth Logan Stevens, soprano Allysa Lehman and St. Anthony’s joint chorus. On a special note, the event will debut the new, custom-designed Peragallo organ. Dr. Brian Stone of the University of Delaware will serve as principal conductor. Free Parking at Salesianum The Festival is offering continuous shuttle service between Salesianum School and the Festival grounds (10th & DuPont streets) from 4:30 to11:30 PM on weekdays and 1:00 to 11:30 PM on the weekend.
