Making Connections that Matter

Wilmington’s Erin Hutt formed Chains Inc. to help inner-city youth by connecting them with young professionals who serve as mentors and role models. The idea is to demonstrate the importance of furthering education and social development to achieve success.

Chains Inc. sponsors events and fundraisers to make those connections. One such event, a Memorial Day party, celebrated students who earned a 2.5 GPA or higher during the most recent school year.

Chains is currently holding a fundraiser where businesses can purchase different colored links that represent the four colors in the Chains Inc. logo. The links will ultimately be attached to form a long chain that will be presented during an upcoming event.

“The idea is we are all in it together,” says Hutt, a Wilmington resident who earned a master’s of public administration from
Strayer University last year. “If we all work together, everybody can get to success a lot easier.”

Chains will hold its first 40 under 40 party at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts in Wilmington on Sept. 13. The event will highlight 40 residents, young professionals and business people from Delaware between the ages of 21 and 40 who have demonstrated leadership and morality.

Hutt plans more activities and get-togethers in the near future. “I just want 10 students to say that because of Chains Inc., I went to college,” she says. (chainsde.com)
