Go Ahead. Glitter.
Original jewelry makes the Rehoboth Art League—and you—shine.
If you live in Rehoboth Beach, the secret is out. If you don’t, we’re spilling.
One of the best places to find handmade jewelry by local artists is the Members Sales Gallery at the Rehoboth Art League (12 Dodds Lane, Henlopen Acres, 227-8408). The shelves are loaded with artful creations because the league is loaded with artist members—840 of them. That’s good news for the savvy consumer.
“In April, artists exchange their artwork from the 2010 season with brand new work for a brand new year,” says gallery manager Nick Serratore. That usually means well-priced items need to move.
Shiny and new this season is beautiful handcrafted jewelry by Meg Fillmore, Susan Schulz and Arden Bardol.
The gallery also offers fine art and crafts, paintings, pottery and sculpture. One-of-a-kind items are reasonably priced, and purchases support local artists. This month RAL also is offering “Young at Art,” a juried exhibit that features the works of local children.
Of course, you’ll want to attend the exhibit with a Fillmore, Schulz or Bardol original draped around your neck or dangling from your ears.
The league’s gallery shop is a shopper’s paradise, says Serratore. “Fine work just fills the gallery.” —Maria Hess
