This October, See Spirited Performances in Historic Delaware Spots

Shakespeare, Poe & Fiends will run one weekend only, Oct. 12–15.

Once more upon a midnight dreary, Delaware Shakespeare will open many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore during the autumnal tradition now known as “Shakespeare, Poe & Fiends” (formerly “Shaksepeare/Poe”). With new selections, authors and venues, Delaware Shakespeare actors will usher guests into a world of literary spirits and specters for a night of readings from plays, prose and poetry designed to fright and delight.

“The new venues will provide for slightly larger audience capacity, while preserving our custom of performing in historic places around Delaware,” says David Stradley, producing artistic director. “And the program’s new name, ‘Shakespeare, Poe & Fiends,’ will signal to audiences that some more masters of the macabre might come rapping, rapping at our chamber door.”

The 2017 cast includes three familiar faces—actors Eliana Fabiyi, Minou Pourshariati and George Tietze—and introduces Hannah Van Sciver to the cast. It is directed again this year by Matthew Mastronardi.
