Catch 5 Iconic Shakespeare Scenes at Longwood Gardens
The performances will take place June 16–17.
Delaware Shakespeare actors will perform five iconic scenes in five idyllic settings this weekend, June 16–17, with the company's first-ever weekend of performances as part of the Longwood Gardens Summer Performance Series.
"We're thrilled to be invited to perform at Longwood Gardens, one of the premier garden destinations not only in the region, but in the world," said David Stradley, producing artistic director of Delaware Shakespeare.
Visitors to Longwood Gardens will see the balcony scene from “Romeo & Juliet” play out in the Main Fountain Garden, the final showdown between Macbeth and Macduff in the East Conservatory Plaza, competing funeral orations from "Julius Caesar" in the Italian Water Garden, a mischievous Puck playing tricks on young lovers during "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Meadow Entrance, and a bit of matchmaking from Shakespeare's merry war of the wits, "Much Ado About Nothing," inside the Exhibition Hall.
All performances are free with admission to Longwood. Visitors will receive a schedule of scenes when they arrive, or can use the schedule at www.delshakes.org to plan their visit in advance.
