The Delaware Chamber Music Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary season June 12-21, with four concerts over two weekends. Led by Philadelphia Orchestra violinist and Wilmington native Barbara Govatos at the Music School of Delaware in Wilmington, the festival brings world-class chamber music to the community in an easily accessible venue and at affordable prices. Highlights of this year's festival include the sparkling "Trout" Quintet of Franz Schubert, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's iconic “Eine Kleine Nachtmusil” and the ultra-stylish jazz-classical ballet score “Points on Jazz” by Dave Brubeck.

The festival will also continue its commitment to featuring music by women composers with a performance of Heidi Jacob's “Winter Light,” and it continues its commitment to showcasing contemporary works with George Crumb's dreamlike “Four Nocturnes.” Hear Strings and Keys June 12, Brahms and Brubeck June 14, A Little Night Music June 19 and It’s Personal June 21.

DCMF's programs have included chamber music concerts as well as outreach programs for families and younger audiences, which feature innovative mixes of traditional and contemporary classical music. Violinist and music director Barbara Govatos holds the Wilson H. and Barbara B. Taylor chair of the first violin section of the Philadelphia Orchestra and has been a member of the orchestra since 1982. A native of Wilmington, she began her musical studies at the Wilmington Music School and went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s from The Juilliard School in New York City. She has been music director of the Delaware Chamber Music Festival since 1990. Complete programs are listed at www.dcmf.org. Tickets are available at dcmf.org or at the box office on performance days.
