Oh-dessa!

Oh-dessa!

There are few precious weeks left of summer, and soon the arts will have to be enjoyed indoors. That’s not a bad thing, mind you, but given the fact that this is the last weekend in August, why not spend it at an awesome outdoor spot?

On August 28—yes, the final Saturday in August 2010—consider visiting the Corbit-Sharp House in Odessa for a picnic and musical performance by Crabmeat Thompson.

The Corbit-Sharp House is part of The Historic Houses of Odessa, an enclave of 18th- and 19th-century houses that boasts about 4,000 objects and furnishings currently owned by the Historic Odessa Foundation.

The Corbit-Sharp is the location for the picnic and entertainment, but cruise the area while you’re there. The neighborhood is a glimpse into what was Delaware's Colonial period, when Odessa was a rural village integral to America’s commercial history.

Crabmeat Thompson is a local icon whose brand is best described as a mix of blues and Irish folk. You never know what Crabmeat will sing, but it’s always entertaining. And his lyrics are, well, interesting.
